Navibulgar’s new vessel starts maiden voyage

On 9th December 2019 in the Chinese Shipyard Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. the flag of the third 45,500 dwt bulk carrier, ordered by Navibulgar was hoisted.

She is part of Bluetech 45 project, which already gives very good performance results on the first two ships of the series mv Plana and Midjur. The third ship was named Buzludja.

First Master of the vessel is Capt. Gancho Hristov, and first chief engineer – Eng. Dimitar Ganchev.

The maiden voyage of mv Buzludja will start from port Caofeidian where the vessel will load her cargo to European ports.


Buzludja is the third ship with that name in the history of Navibulgar. The first had a deadweight of 100 tons and was built in Varna in 1945. She was in employment until 1960 performing voyages in Black and East Mediterranean Seas. In 1961 vessel was redesigned as a sailing training vessel under the name Pioner. The second mv Buzludja was ore carrier of 13,904 tons built in Japan in 1968. She is one of the longer operated vessel in Navibulgar’s history being in employment till 2009.
